To update information on existing Wells, you must have an admin role. This will allow you to update Well information, Tank capacity, multipliers, tank allocations, meters, setup production goals, access to custom fields and creating validation rules.
This article contains the following topics:
Updating basic Well information
Updating Tanks and Meters
Setting tank configurations
Setting tank allocations
Editing production information from previous dates
Granting custom field access
Updating quarterly production goals
Updating Errors/Warnings for existing Wells
Updating Well Information
Account administrators can update existing Wells (Oil, Gas or Water)
To update existing Wells:
1. Hover over the Manage tab, then select Wells
2. To edit a Well, click the Well name, or on the edit button on the right of the screen
3. In the Well detail screen, you can update the following fields:
Name (this is the username for administrative purposes)
Alias (this is the name that users and admins will see on the iWell application) (16 char. max.)
State (optional)
Lease (optional)

Click Save.
Updating Tanks and Meters
4. On the second sub tab, you can edit the tanks / meters associated to the Well. On this screen you can update:
Tank information (e.g. capacity, multiplier, allocations, etc.)
Flow meters
Barton chart meters
Deactivate tanks
If you need to delete a Tank, just click the red trash icon on the right of the Well. This action cannot be undone.
When you’re done, click Save.
4.1 To edit the tanks allocation setting and / or information, click on the tank name or on the gear icon, on the right side
On the next screen you can see how many Wells are sharing production with a tank. If you need to update the allocation settings, click on the date you want to edit. Keep in mind that if you update the date, all production (oil, water and gas) records in the period of the allocations that are being modified will be recalculated to match the new allocation settings of the tank.
Setting Tank Allocations
4.2 Tank allocations are used when you would like to divide production in a tank amongst several wells. When you use allocations you have the ability on each tank to pick the time period and the amount of allocation that should be given to each well in a percent form. For example:
Tank name. 111222
Time period. Jan 1, 2017 - Jan 31, 2017
Well 1: 35%
Well 2: 15%
Well 3: 40%
Well 4: 10%
TOTAL: 100%
To divide production between in a tank, amongst Wells, click + Tank Configuration
Next, select the Well(s) you want to share production by clicking Add Well. Remember that the total allocated percentage must be 100%. When done, click Save.
You can add custom tank warnings to your tanks by clicking Add Warning. These rules will warn Pumpers and other people when the tank levels match the specified criteria.
After you’ve completed all the updates on the tanks, click Save.
Deactivating Existing Tanks
4.3 If you need to deactivate or turn off a tank, on the tank detail screen, click on the "Deactivate Tank" red button located at the bottom of your screen.
This will disable the tank without deleting any production data you've already entered for the tank.
When done, click Save.
Production and Hours On
5. On the Production & Hours On sub tab, you can edit daily production (oil, gas, water) data, as well as the operating hours of the Well.
You can filter the data by date or time period (7 days, 30 days, 180 days or 365 days).
To edit past data, click on the pencil icon on the right.
5.1 If you need to edit operation downtime from multiple dates, select the items from the list above. Fill the Normal Hours On and Hours On fields, and click Apply.
5.2 To bulk import production information from previous dates (days, weeks, months), click Choose file, the platform will prompt you to upload a CSV (Excel) file (see file structure below). Once uploaded, click Import.
Custom Fields
6. Next is the Custom Fields sub tab. This is where can add, edit, or delete historical custom data, such as Casing Pressure or any other custom field. (See Adding Custom Fields).
Production Goals
7. The next sub tab is Goals. You have the option to set up quarterly production goals for the Well. This is ideal when making predicted vs. actual comparisons on your Wells. Click Save when done.
Adding Errors / Warnings
8. On the sub tab Errors & Warnings, you can set validation rules for Pumpers in order to reduce human errors. (Learn more about managing Errors & Warnings)
We recommend that you enter an Error validation rule for upper limits of your wells (e.g. Error if Water Production is greater than 500 bbls). Setting an upper limit on production values will significantly reduce data errors that may need to be corrected later.
Click Save when done.
