With iWell Remote, you will have access to near real-time production data from the field. On this guide, you will learn how to install and configure our remote monitoring units for G4/G5 ABB TotalFlow meters.
Part I. Antenna Installation
iWeII has provided you with an antenna, antenna mount, mounting hardware, and
1/2“ conduit connectors. iWell recommends you run antenna line cables inside 1/2“ flexible electrical conduit for protection. The 1/2” flexible electrical conduit is not provided by iWeII.
Step 1.
Untwist cable ties from the provided antenna and remove the plastic washer, silver washer, and threaded nut from the antenna. You may discard these three items as they will not be used during the installation.
Step 2.
Pull the antenna cables through the large center hole on the top of the provided antenna mount. Once the antenna cables are all the way through, remove the film on the bottom of the antenna and stick the antenna to the top of the mount.
Step 3.
Feed the antenna cables through the "antenna to 1/2" conduit" adapter. Screw the adapter. Screw the adapter into the antenna threaded bolt.
Step 4.
Secure the antenna mount with the attached antenna to the top of the pole near the ABB TotalFlow box. The antenna mount can be secured by removing the film on the top double-sided tape on the mount and sticking it directly on the pole and then use the provided zip ties to secure the mount to the pole.
Step 5.
Run the antenna cable in 1/2" flexible electrical conduit from the antenna to the ABB Total Flow box.
Step 6.
Pop out a small gasket on the ABB TotalFlow box and install the 1/2" conduit connector.
Step 7.
Run the antenna lines that are in the 1/2" flexible conduit through the 1/2" conduit connector into the ABB TotalFlow box.
Step 8.
Secure the 1/2" flexible electrical conduit into the 1/2" conduit connector on the ABB TotalFlow box.
If the antenna cables cannot reach the ABB TotalFlow box because the distance is too great, use the antenna extension cables provided. These cables are only provided on request (most installations will not need antenna extension cables).
Step 9.
Position the Well Remote Modem inside the ABB TotalFlow box. Typical locations for the remote modem include:
The battery shelf in the TotalFlow (if it is not used for battery).
In the space on the right-hand side of the flowmeter electronics/battery shelf.
Step 10.
Screw the two antenna ends into the iWell Remote Modern that is inside the ABB TotalFlow box.
The antenna end-labeled LTE Main should screw into the iWell Remote Modem receiver labeled WWAN 1-1.
The other antenna end LTE AUX should screw into the remaining antenna receiver WWAN 1-2 on the iWell Remote Modem.
Part II. Wiring Set-Up | Power
Step 1.
For providing power to the iWell Remote Modem, use the black and red wire harness provided. The wire harness will have a green connector at one end of the wires.
DO NOT plug this green connector into the iWell Remote Modem until specified in the set-up instructions below.
Step 2.
Inside the ABB TotalFlow box you will find a main circuit board. In the upper right area of this circuit board, you will find a 9-pin connector used for COMMS.
Step 3.
Screw the red wire into the first or top connector on the 9-pin comm connector. This is labeled BLU (VBATT).
Step 4.
Screw the red wire into the second connector on the 9-pin comm connector. This is labeled BLK (GND).
DOUBLE CHECK THE LAST TWO STEPS. These steps are very important to be done right the first time to make sure any electronics are not ruined.
Part III. Configuration and Communication
For ABB TotalFlow units with an ethernet port available.
Step 1.
Connect your computer to the TotalFlow through the serial connector on the side of the TotalFlow. Connect to PCCU to configure the TotalFlow's ethernet port.
Step 2.
Once connected to the TotalFlow via PCCU. Enter the communication screen as shown on the steps below.
Step 3.
Click on the Ethernet tab in the upper center area.
Step 4.
Make sure that 'Network Adapter' is checked. 'Enable DHCP' will be unchecked
Change the IP address to 192.168.2.11
Change the Subnet Mask to 255.255.255.0
Change the Default Gateway to 192.168.2.1
Change the DNS Server to 192.168.2.1
Step 5.
Once you have made the changes in step 4, click 'Send' at the bottom of the screen.
Step 6.
You will need to reboot the TotalFlow for the ethernet port to be activated.
Step 7.
Connect one end of the ethernet cable into the ethernet port on the TotalFlow circuit board and the other end into the ethernet port on the iWell Remote Mode.
Step 8.
Power up the iWell Remote Modem by plugging in the green power connector into the modem. Secure the plug into the modem by tightening the screws on the right and left of the green power connector.
